Home Assistant and IoT Systems Architect

Project overview

We operate a Home Assistant-based automation ecosystem in Cyprus covering:

• A smart home

• A sustainability-focused farm project (Mavronero)

• Environmental monitoring and irrigation systems

• Camera infrastructure

• Energy management

The system uses PostgreSQL as backend database and selected data will be exposed to a WordPress-based website (public dashboards, sustainability reporting, sensor visualization).

We are seeking a long-term technical partner to support, stabilize, and architect this system.

This is not a short-term setup project.
We are building a scalable IoT infrastructure.

Role overview

You will act as:

• Home Assistant specialist

• IoT automation architect

• Database performance partner

• Data integration consultant (HA → WordPress)

You will help define long-term structure, not only fix issues.

• Blink cameras + potential RTSP / ONVIF

• VPN / Nabu Casa remote access

• WordPress (custom data exposure & dashboards)

Scope of work

Home assistant and automation architecture

• Clean automation structure (YAML + UI)

• Modular automation design

• Naming & entity conventions

• Fault tolerance

• System stability

• Debugging & hardening

Database and performance

• PostgreSQL tuning

• Recorder configuration optimization

• Long-term retention strategy

• Log and storage management

• Performance optimization

Cameras and monitoring

• Integration and stabilization

• Motion logic refinement

• Notification workflows

• Storage strategy

• Dashboard structuring

WordPress data exposure

• Structured data export from HA (API / MQTT / direct DB strategy)

• Secure data pipelines

• Public-facing dashboards

• Sustainability metrics visualization

• Sensor data exposure (e.g., irrigation, weather, energy)

• Performance-safe architecture (no direct DB overload)

WordPress experience is required — especially:

• Custom API integrations

• REST endpoints

• Custom dashboards

• Secure external data exposure

Required experience

• 3+ years Home Assistant experience

• Strong YAML skills

• PostgreSQL knowledge

• Linux / Docker basics

• MQTT understanding

• Camera integrations

• WordPress development (custom data integration)
