A night of wildlife monitoring<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Setting up a camera to monitor nocturnal wildlife always comes with a little anticipation. You never quite know what might pass by once darkness falls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the night of 6 October 2026, our camera on the river terrace at Mavronero captured a feline visitor moving through the area. Further recordings from 8 October also showed a cat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We ended up with three photos of cats, but we cannot tell whether they show the same individual appearing more than once or different cats passing through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not quite the wildlife sightings we had hoped for this time! \ud83d\udc08<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What can a night camera reveal?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Camera traps allow us to observe activity in an area without needing to be present. They can capture animals moving through the landscape after dark, offering glimpses of activity that might otherwise go unnoticed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, not every recording brings a new wildlife discovery. Sometimes, the camera captures familiar visitors instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although these images do not provide enough information to identify the individual cats or determine how many were present, they still document animal activity on the river terrace during the monitoring period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The value of keeping watch<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Wildlife monitoring takes patience. Some nights bring exciting sightings, while others leave us wondering what else might be out there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Mavronero, we continue to observe and document the activity around the farm, one recording at a time. Our night camera will stay on the lookout for whatever decides to pass by next.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
