On 14 October, Mavronero Farm welcomed Sofia Matsi, Executive Director and Panayiotis Louca, Project Manager of the Cyprus Environment Foundation (CEF).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The visit provided an opportunity to discuss regenerative agriculture and the potential for farms across Cyprus to connect, share practical knowledge and increase the visibility of locally grown products. It also offered a chance to consider how farms, environmental organisations and other partners might contribute to a more connected and resilient local food system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mavronero Farm is an organic olive farm near Stavrovouni, run together with the Panterito Stiftung. The farm\u2019s work sits within a wider landscape where agriculture, care for the land and local food production are closely connected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Across Cyprus, farmers work in varied environmental and economic conditions. Water availability, soil health, biodiversity and access to markets can all shape what is possible on an individual farm. There is no single approach that fits every place. Sharing experience between farms can help make practical knowledge more accessible and support learning across different contexts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A network of farms working towards regenerative principles could create opportunities to exchange knowledge, build connections between producers and partners, and explore ways to make locally grown products more visible. Any such network would need to grow through discussion and collaboration. The visit was an opportunity to consider this ambition; it does not mean that a formal network or specific next steps have already been agreed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Connecting regenerative farming with local products is also part of this wider conversation. Clearer links between how food is grown, the landscapes it comes from and the people who buy it can help strengthen the visibility of local producers. Collaboration with relevant businesses and the hospitality sector may offer further possibilities to explore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Mavronero, the longer-term ambition is to contribute to stronger connections among regenerative farms in Cyprus and to explore how shared learning and the promotion of local products could support producers. The visit by Sofia Matsi and Panayiotis Louca gave us an opportunity to exchange perspectives on these themes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
