The first Tree of Life: a tribute to Iacovos Philipou
At Mavronero, every tree holds a story.
Some mark the passing of time, others celebrate special moments… and a few symbolize the very beginning of everything.
We are honoured to share a particularly meaningful milestone: the dedication of the first Tree of Life to Mr. Iacovos Philipou, the person who planted the literal and symbolic roots of Mavronero Farm back in 1986.

Honouring the man who started it all
Iacovos chose to place his trust in this land and cultivate it with patience, respect, and a long-term vision. His early plantings —done by hand and with unwavering dedication— eventually grew into the olive groves that define Mavronero today.
Every tree on the farm carries something of his legacy:
- his harmony with nature
- his deep connection to the land
- and his desire to leave something meaningful for future generations
For this reason, the first Tree of Life – Iacovos is more than a symbolic gesture. It is a tribute to the man who taught us that every great project begins with a simple act: planting a seed and caring for it.
The first Tree of Life
Naming the first Tree of Life after him felt natural. Iacovos represents the values that have shaped Mavronero from the beginning: protect, conserve, and educate.
Values that continue to guide our decisions, from how we care for our olive trees to the environmental and educational projects we pursue.
The Tree of Life – Iacovos stands as a bridge between Mavronero’s past and its future, a reminder that every tree is an act of hope.
What is the Tree of Life?
The Tree of Life is part of a new initiative at Mavronero: the Tree Support program.
This program offers a meaningful way for people to connect with nature by supporting and naming their own tree in our groves.
Through the Tree Support Program, people have the opportunity to:
🌿 Support a specific tree at Mavronero
🌿 Give it a unique name
🌿 Connect it to a personal story or dedication
🌿 Receive updates about its growth, health, and harvest
🌿 See its exact location through geodata and a dedicated photo
The Tree of Life is one of three support options that are part of the full program.
